WILDFIRE COMMUNITY RESOURCES (WCR) was founded to provide preparation resources for landowners, homeowners, and communities. Early preparation for yourself and your property is crucial to the survivability of both. Site preparation begins with establishment of defensible space and the creation of an ignition-resistant home and community. WCR supports homeowner, community group, Fire Safe Council and fire agency events. FIRE SEASON IS A YEAR-ROUND CONCERN IN MANY COMMUNITIES. Site Evaluations, Preparation, Planning and Mitigation can reduce the impact of wildfire on life and property. Planning during the winter months in areas that experience high levels of rainfall or snow can prepare you and your community for wildfire. In DRY AREAS, planning and mitigation are year round activities. An effective WILDFIRE ACTION PLAN often includes FIRE PREPARATION RESOURCES that landowners, homeowners and communities use to reduce the impact of wildfire. Our Fire Preparation Resources Include:

  • Emergency Supplies
  • Portable High Pressure Fire Pumps
  • Fire Blocking Foams & Gels
  • Super Effective Gel Application Systems
  • Water Storage Systems
  • Sprinkler Systems
  • Flame Resistant Clothing
  • Ember Protection Vents
  • Reflective Address Systems
  • Flame Retardant Tarps
  • Mobile Fire Suppression Equipment

PREPARATION + ACTION = IMPROVED SURVIVABILITY

Gary Chang has lived in Northern California since 1983. He has 35 years of experience helping businesses analyze problems and design solutions to operate more efficiently - small entrepreneur owned businesses to large international companies. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration, emphasizing in Marketing and Distribution. With the beauty of large open areas and the forested foothills around his hometown of Chico are also high fire hazard environments that possess the ingredients for intense wildfires. He has seen many communities throughout California, Nevada, and Hawaii devastated by wildfire. As the Director of Marketing for a Contract Fire Suppression Company, he helped to develop initiatives that connected the company's fire safety capabilities with the needs of landowners and homeowners. In 2009, Gary founded WILDFIRE COMMUNITY RESOURCES (WCR) to provide resources for landowners and homeowners to be "READY WHEN FIRE COMES." As a communication professional, Gary realized that there are many issues about fire that people do not understand. The fact is "Fire has been on this earth forever and it's not going away." He believes that in these tight economic times with government budget cuts, it is important that landowners and homeowners do the following:

  • Understand the "Principles of Wildfire and Resources Available."
  • Have a plan to take care of your land and home.
  • Get to know your neighbors and help one another.
  • Work with your community and local fire agencies.

His interest and hobbies include tennis, golf, gardening, traveling, and family activities.
