WILDFIRE COMMUNITY RESOURCES (WCR) was founded to provide awareness and preparation resources for landowners, homeowners, and communities to be “READY WHEN FIRE COMES.”

We share Wildfire Awareness and Preparation Information from three nationally acclaimed sources… Firewise; Living With Fire; and Ready-Set-Go.

By learning the “Principles of Wildfire and Resources Available”, we can gain knowledge to PREPARE for WILDFIRE and increase the chances of survivability to our lives, homes, and property. We can also learn about Preparation Resources available to help ourselves.

Fire season comes and goes every year. Most of the time, homeowners and communities get lucky and escape the devastating effects of an unexpected wildfire. The causes of wildfire are varied. Sometimes it is started by a lightning strike. Sometimes it started by a mower blade that creates a spark by striking a rock and causes a grass fire. And sometimes it is started by flying embers from another fire.

Many communities are very proactive and diligent about WILDFIRE PREPARATION. They plan, clear hazardous fuels, have emergency evacuation plans, and purchase resources to be READY WHEN FIRE COMES. Others only take action when wildfire is surrounding or approaching their community. Often times, it is too little too late. Once the threat is gone, some people get complacent and do nothing. Which are you?

As we all know, disasters like FLOODS, EARTHQUAKES, TSUNAMIS, TORNADOS, and WILDFIRES can happen with little or no warning.

Early preparation for yourself and your property is crucial to the survivability of both. Site preparation begins with establishment of defensible space and the creation of ignition-resistant homes and communities. WCR works with individual homeowners, community groups, Fire Safe Councils, Fire Agencies throughout California, Nevada, and Oregon.

FIRE SEASON IS A YEAR-ROUND CONCERN IN MANY COMMUNITIES WHERE DRY CONDITIONS EXIST. Planning during the winter months in areas that experience high levels of rainfall or snow can prepare you and your community for wildfire when vegetation dries out.
In these tight economic times, public resources are being stretched and cut. Residents in the WUI may not always have the Red Fire Engine show up when wildfire strikes. But they can CHANGE the way they THINK & ACT to prepare for any disaster, including wildfire:

  • Understand the "Principles of Wildfire and Resources Available."
  • Have a plan to take care of your life, home and property.
  • Get to know your neighbors and help one another.
  • Work with your community and local fire agencies.
